Best Multivitamin

Postby Grey_Moon » Fri May 25, 2012 1:54 pm

So I'm slowly easing myself (and Jacko) onto a fresh diet.
I'm wondering what the best birdie multivitamin is (eventually I'll be trying to get her off synthetics all together, but one step at a time, I've got more reading to do).

I was considering the AviVita Gold by Avitech (it looks to be a high-potency multivitamin so its only given 2-3 times a week) but am wondering if the best one to get is the regular AviVita Plus given daily?

Both are pretty economical, but the AviVita Gold is the best bang for my buck. I can get Prime here really easy (yaay for living in the HARI institute's backyard)--but the mark-up is *HUGE* so I'd rather not.

If anyone has any other brands to consider or advice/experience, I'm all ears :)

I don't recommend putting minerals in the drinking water because parrots don't really drink that much water so they won't get the proper minerals.

Thanks Naomi but just so you're aware---it is recommended NOT to add anything (like a multivitamin) into a bird's drinking water as it causes the water to spoil even faster and increases the risk of illness due to increased bacteria etc growth in the water.

Hello
As a health nut my I suggest also treating your bird with home made dehydrated fruits and veggies , if you don t cook/mash veggies they retain all their vitamins and are far less messy!
Jus t use any old store bought dehydrated ( must be set below 180 degrees to retain full nutritional integrity )
also ( in humans) sprouted quinoa multiplies its nutritional value by 10! When sprouted ( find super easy instructions on utube) I woul image this grain is very good for ou GCCs as it is also harvested where they come from
...o and don't forget, organic flax seed , I make carrot flax crackers for mine in the dehydrator as well
(utube or Internet recipes) Great treats all around for you and your :gcc:

All my birds are noodle crazy. I think they can smell them cooking. They beg until they get their share.

I wonder why they put vitamins in powder or liquid form. If it tastes like fruit they will pick it up and eat it.

I don't recommend it but Myrtle crabbed my mother's chewable C vitamin and ate it. When I tried to take it from her she flew to the top of the curtains to finish it. I kept my fingers crossed that it would not be too much for her. Mom pays closer attention to her vitamins now.

I have so many pills to take in the course of the day. I take 9 for breakfast and 12 at bedtime. I never remember the middle of the day pills. I have resorted to gummies. I take a multi vitamin and B12, calcium, C and so on. I don't take time for my mid pills but do crave sugar in the middle of the day so that works for me.
