Rio Movie Review From Parrot Owner's Perspective

I went to see the movie Rio the first day it came out. Here I offer my review of the movie from a parrot owner's perspective.

Pictures and video coming soon.

If you've seen the movie, post comments about what you thought of the movie.

I went to see it as well today ... only in 2D though. 3D movies give my step-daughter motion sickness, so we were glad it was in 2D, although I can appreciate what 3D adds to the movie.

I have to say that I enjoyed the movie. I tried not to over analyze it too much ... like 3 toes instead of 4. I just enjoyed the movie for what it was and I would recommend it to anyone. It was entertaining and made me laugh throughout. Even my husband enjoyed it.

I enjoyed reading your review and the real life references Michael. I had not heard the history behind the movie at all.

Thanks for the thoughtful review, Michael. I am surprised that it had the owner feeding the parrot chocolate. Someone should have thought about the harm this would cause.

Ike, my lovebird, wants to go to the movie theater to see Rio. He was really disappointed when I told him that it was in 3-D and there are no 3-D glasses small enough for him to wear. He'll just have to wait until the 2-D version is available. I told him that he couldn't eat the theater popcorn anyway because it is not air popped and that he could eat air popped popcorn at home while watching it so he felt better.

Here Ike is thinking. "I could be a movie star ... just look at my great profile!"

thanks for the story behind the movie, that was very interesting. I found it incredibly sad though that they took Presley away from his owner like that :(

havent seen the movie yet but probably will soon :D

You should see the movie. No one forced the owner to relinquish Blu,
it was done at free will to save the species.
I loved the movie and totally agree with this review.

Yes, really, Parrots do NOT dance and sing in the wild. They vocalize, and some species breeding behaviors that resemble and which we call 'dance' but it's not as if they actually sing and dance.
