Make your own potpourri

Postby Pajarita » Sat Nov 07, 2020 12:01 pm

I am a maniac when it comes to smells and, my house, with all the dogs and cats, is not easy to keep it smelling sweet and, as I can't use any of the 'normal' stuff (scented candles, sprays, etc), I simmer potpourri in the pms after the birds are back in their cages. Here is an article teaching you how to make your own but, if you are interested in how I make my 'simmer scent', I'll tell you: I save peelings of apples, oranges, lemons and even pears which I simmer along with spices like cinnamon, cardamom (wonderful smell!), cloves, rosemary, allspice, nutmeg, etc. - and even vanilla extract! (you can use all kinds of cooking extracts like lemon, orange, etc).
