Lovebird with injured legs

A friend of mine has this lovely lovebird with pain in his left leg. Any ideas what could be done to heal his leg?

Welcome to the forum but I am afraid that he is going to lose that foot. See how it's black and shriveled? That means the whole thing has become necrotic. Did the bird get it caught somewhere and broke the 'ankle' bone or did he have something tied tightly around it which prevented blood circulation? Because that is what it looks like to me. I strongly recommend he takes that bird to an avian vet to have it looked at but, if I am right, it will require amputation. Please ask him not to attempt to do the amputation himself! The vet will know exactly where to sever and will make a little flap of tissue to sew over the stump - and he will do it under anesthesia. Birds do OK with only one foot - it's not the best situation but they manage well. All it will require is one flat perch (so it can rest its stump on it, taking some weight his 'good' foot) as well as the regular branches and a little platform for him to sleep on (the platforms are usually made out of wire so he should put some sort of a solid cover -I use old magazines that I 'attach' to the platform with clothes pins).
