Food waste study

Postby Pajarita » Thu Oct 24, 2019 10:38 am

SUPER SUPER interesting! Now we all know that parrots will throw a large portion of the food we give them on the floor - and we have all dispair about the waste BUT, according to this study, it is what they are supposed to do! A couple little spoiler alerts just to whet your interest on the study: parrots waste more than other species, they waste more non-native than native food as well as more 'low quality' (as in unripe fruit, for example) than high quality, and it is not random (they found 86 primary species and 28 secondary ones that benefit from this)!
