First pet bird ?

Postby Ressler » Fri Sep 13, 2019 1:55 pm

I have been thinking about getting a pet bird for a very long time. I was wondering what bird would be good for a beginner. I have found a big interest in Budgies, Conures and Cockatiels. Would any of these birds be a good pet for a beginner? Any other bird suggestions? Thanks!

My dear, you asked on the Introduction forum what is the point of keeping a bird and anybody who needs to ask this is not a bird person. I am not trying to put you down or make you feel bad but keeping birds the right way is VERY hard... you need to change your entire lifestyle to fit their needs and that means a HUGE sacrifice for many, many years - a budgie lives well into its teens, same as canaries, and they have the shortest lifespan of all the parrots so unless you are willing to live a completely different life, one that revolves around an animal, for the next 15 years or so, birds are not a good fit for you.
