New Here/scared bird

Postby Sjoseph358 » Thu Mar 02, 2023 7:16 pm

Hi, I am new here and looking for some advice on working with a terrified Indian Ringneck that I have recently adopted. She is less than 1 year. I am working with her at her pace, but have some questions about some things. She has been through a lot in her short life. I’m happy to be providing her with a safe, warm and entertaining home. I’d appreciate any helpful tips
Thanks,
S

Welcome to the forum and thank you for wanting to improve the poor thing's life.

Now, how long have you had her? How do you know it's a female? What, exactly, do you mean when you say she has been through a lot? Also, what do you mean when you say you are 'working' with her.

I am sorry to be asking all these questions but, for the advice to be more or less in point, we need this info.

For now, what I can tell you is that you can't really 'work' with a terrified bird. The best thing is to give them space and time, feed them right, allow them 5 to 6 hours of out of cage, keep them at a solar schedule and, most of all, keep a super consistent schedule -nothing makes a bird feel safe than knowing what is going to happen.
