Yeah I don't know how people can do that either.
Petey is really more my boyfriend's bird albeit she's the one who decided this ;)
If it was just her and myself..not sure it would have worked out. But since my boyfriend is willing to spend time with her and be there for her, it allows me to work with her while not having her totally unhappy. She is truly a man's bird.

I hear you, but with us it was the other way around. When we first got Lucy she was my husband's bird and when we got Jessie a few months later, he chose me in the store so he became my bird. But somehow it turned out that Lucy bonded with me and they are both pretty much my birds now. I've tried to get my husband to work with Lucy, but she gave him a really bad bite once and he has a hard time trusting her now and I think she senses his apprehension.

He still enjoys observing them from a distance, but leaves the hands on stuff to me. I don't mind though - I get to enjoy the play time and cuddle time with them.
