The bond between pets and their owners is very strong. When a person gets a pet, he takes enormous responsibility for his life. The pet begins to get used to its owner from the first day. Over time, the pet begins to trust the person and see him as his protector. Before getting a pet, you should think very carefully and understand how much you are willing to be responsible for someone else's life besides your own. I recently got two rodents. I decided not to be too trivial and got gerbils instead of hamsters. As it turns out, they are very cute animals who are great at communicating. Gerbil is quite a peculiar animal that needs special care. I read a lot of information before buying them.

Well, that's way too generalized... There are good owners and there are bad owners and, then, there are guardians. People who regard companion animals as 'pets' are owners, but people who regard companion animals as wards or friends are guardians. And whether the animal regards the human as a 'protector' depends on the species and how the human treats it.
