I once read that they had identified over 500 words or phrases that a species of parrot uses to communicate. This study shows that birds use different combinations of sound blocks to form different words (kind of like letters in our words). The species of this study is a highly social passerine but I do wish they would do a study on parrots vocalizations! Second link is when they first discovered they had a language and third link is about the species itself.

More on vocalizations. This one is about how researchers can tell the age of the antshrikes by their song - how cool is that?! I also loved the tidbit that females intervene when the 'argument' gets hot and how older males prefer young females - just like humans!
