Peso is a talker!

Postby Budgie81 » Wed Aug 07, 2019 6:51 am

I got him about a month ago and spend tons of time with him, and yesterday he said his first words. "Peso bird", and "Pretty bird". He is such a smart little budgie and I love him to death. The talking is just icing on the cake lol :budgie:

Yes, but you do realize that only lonely budgies talk, right? They are much happier AND healthier when they are kept with other budgies...

Yes, indeed, very seriously. Only male budgies learn to talk and this is because, in the wild, different flock of budgies have different dialects and, as the male needs to woo the female with vocalizations, their brains are programmed to learn a new language. But pet budgies only learn to speak human when they have no other budgies... Budgies are INTENSELY flock oriented and never feel safe or happy without a flock around them. People like to think that their company is enough for their pet bird but no human can be with their bird 24/7/365 and, even if they could, they could never really give the bird what it needs in terms of company. Lone budgies never last as long as budgies in flock because living alone causes them chronic stress. This is not my opinion, mind you, it's a scientific fact. Don't take my word for it, research and you'll see.

Budgies are not expensive birds and having two is no more work than having just one but much, much more fun for the owner and healthier for the birds. Maybe you could consider getting him a mate... it would go a loooong way toward his wellbeing.
