Thank you for your reply!!
stitchy is i think 15 years old now im 17. My mom got him as a baby and when he grew up got another bird called lilo. Lilo saddly got eaten by a cat when stitchy was i think around 5 years old and has been alone ever since. We have tried introducing him to other birds from friends but he always got scared or was mean no matter the type of bird. Lilo wasnt so nice to stitch either and caused him quite some stress because lilo groomed stitchy too much to the point it would hurt him so we had to keep and eye on them at the time as well.
His diet is nutribird b14 pellets, he gets some fruit like apple or vegetables like spinach pretty much every day and he gets a few seeds every day since he needs to gain more weight he’s a bit skinny, but the vet said he isnt too skinny so nothing bad.
He’s old so he sleeps a lot and he’s been struggling with feather plucking for like 2 years now. We’ve resently started a new treatment that the vet recommended and with that we’ve been giving him cbd oil twice a day.
Next to all that he’s had a very hard life i was around 7 years old at the time i think it was on my birthday and somebody let stitchy walk on the floor which was a very bad idea because stitchys feather were clipped at the time. My grandma didnt notice him and accidentally stepped on him which resulted in him never being able to fly anymore even with his feathers growing back also his tail feather are gone and wont grow back. My mom was in care of stitchy at the time this all happened and i was very young so i dont know the exact times of everything happening. We have gone to the vet for all of the problems he’s had and has been treated but they never knew why his tail feathers didnt grow back.
Although i dont think he makes this noise because of any of these things i just wanted to share his story in case i have any future questions or if you have any extra advice to give.
We are going back to the vet soon and me and my mom want to ask if maybe it might be a good idea if we get another lovebird after all. One that is near his age and maybe even one that has a disability like stitchy. We have the time, and im not 7 anymore and would like for stitchy to enjoy his life for however long he’ll still be with us and maybe help another birdy with it. I am very close to him and he’s with me almost the whole time whenever im home.
The sound he makes really doesnt seem much of a painful sound it sounds rather goofy and playful he makes it randomly but never in a state where he seems stressed only maybe when he’s a bit annoyed.
I hope this is enough information
