Green Cheek Conures -- Maturation Ages

Postby entrancedbymyGCC » Thu Feb 11, 2010 2:28 pm

Does anyone know offhand at what age range GCCs display "terrible twos" behavior and when they reach sexual maturity? Just curious as Scooter is 11 months so I think we'd be expecting some of one or the other around now for a bird his size.

There seem to be many different answers to this question on the internet. I was just researching this question myself (I was curious) and I didn't seem to find a consistent number. I've seen information saying after a year, and up to three years old. :?

Kathleen, that's what I found as well. Some of it is cut and paste from generic "parrot" I'm guessing. Oh well!

My daughter's gcc's started at different ages. Meeko was about 15 months old when he started. Baily was right around a year and is still in her terible two's. I think it's just like our own kids some start sooner and others later just depends. I can say that both were/are quit nippy dering this time. Meeko of corse out grew the stage and Baily is starting to get better. Hope this helps some.
